In this study, healthy volunteers will be compared with patients with rare genetic conditions that affect the blood vessels. All study-related procedures are provided at no cost and compensation is provided.

LAM is a rare progressive lung disease that usually strikes women during their childbearing years, between the onset of puberty and menopause. One possible treatment to improve breathing in patients with LAM is inhaled albuterol. Albuterol can be given using a hand held inhaler or with a nebulizer. The study wants to compare these methods to see which method improves lung function in patients with LAM.

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center is looking for individuals with severe epilepsy or individuals who have experienced persistent seizure activity that cannot be controlled with medication, to participate in this research study. The goal of this research study is to provide surgical treatment to control these types of seizures. Participation requires an inpatient stay of up to 4 weeks, plus 3 outpatient visits within 2 years after surgery.
