The NIH Clinical Center provides free interpretation and translation services for patients with Limited English Proficiency. Learn more about the Language Interpreter Program available for our patients.

American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting services are provided upon request as a reasonable accommodation to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, including employees, contractors, patients and visitors, to participate in NIH related events and activities.

The NIH Clinical Center conducts clinical research on a broad spectrum of diseases and health problems. On occasion, NIH accepts international patients as clinical research participants. Those patients arriving from abroad will need to obtain a B-2 temporary visitor’s visa for medical treatment prior to entering the United States for medical treatment.

Visit our Visa and Immigration Information for International Patients/Caregivers web page for instruction on how to request a B-2 visa.

If you have hair loss during treatment, your social worker can authorize a wig voucher. This voucher allows you to buy a wig from a local business contracted through the Clinical Center. You can then contact the wig contractor and make an appointment.

For more information, please consult your social worker or call the Social Work Department at 301-496-2381.
