Taking Metro to NIH? Be Ready for Your Trip!
From July 6 to Sept. 6, 2026, Metro trains will not operate between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights stations while there is major construction on the Red Line. This includes the Medical Center Metro station.
Free WMATA shuttle buses will replace trains at Grosvenor-Strathmore, Medical Center, and Bethesda stations. The shuttles will be ADA accessible.
Metro plans continuous shuttle service to these stations but add extra time to your trip to ensure you aren’t late for your appointment.
More details and alternative transportation options can be found at the WMATA website.
