The facility is licensed by the United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to manufacture red blood cells, plasma, and platelets for distribution in interstate commerce. In addition to licensed manufacturing, the department provides novel cellular products under the Investigational New Drug (IND) program with the FDA to support Institute clinical trials. We are registered with the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) as a manufacturer of blood and blood products and as a manufacturer of human tissue and cellular products.
