Annika Nilsson is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Bioethics. She received her PhD in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2025. Her dissertation research investigated the use of digital technologies for self-directed research and illness management among people living with complex chronic illnesses. While at NIH, she will be working on topics related to patient and community involvement in research design, ethical issues surrounding digital communication technologies, and issues of cultural and epistemological difference in clinical and public health practice.
