NIH Graduate Medical Education

Congratulations to the 2025 Clinical Fellow Graduates!
We are excited to celebrate the 82 Clinical Fellow Graduates! We wish them the best on their next professional journey.  NIH currently sponsors 24 medical specialty or subspecialty programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), numerous "one of kind" translational medicine fellowship training programs, and collaborates with extramural training partners that sponsor accredited clinical training programs.

NIH Clinical Electives Program

The NIH Clinical Electives Program is Now Accepting Applications
Want to complete a short-term clinical rotation? Fourth year medical students can apply to the NIH Clinical Electives Program and learn about the care of patients with rare or complex disorders enrolled in human subjects research protocols at the NIH Clinical Center, a 200 bed research hospital.

Educating the Next Generation

The Medical Research Scholars Program is a year long research immersion program for future clinician-scientists that advances health by inspiring careers in biomedical research. By engaging students in basic, clinical, or translational research investigations, offering a curriculum rich in didactics and professional development, and featuring a robust mentorship and advising program, MRSP prepares its Scholars to become tomorrow's leaders in medicine and biomedical research.
