Messenger and Escort Service

The Messenger and Escort Service is open 24/7 to provide patient escort services, as well as supplying related patient assistance and providing necessary services like sanitizing equipment and restocking materials. Safety, confidentiality and privacy are considerations that guide each stage of the process.

Components of patient escort services include:

  • Transporting patients via wheelchair, gurney or other medical-transport mode,

  • Walking patients who have visual impairments to their destinations,

  • Ensuring the safe transport of IV poles, Foley bags and other pieces of medical equipment that may accompany a patient,

  • Providing complete, accurate, consistent information during patient hand-offs,

  • Safe handling and storage of all equipment,

  • Maintaining privacy and confidentiality in full compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
