On Dec. 12, the NIH Clinical Center had a special group of visitors stop by the hospital. Superstars from the WWE visited the Clinical Center to spend time with our young patients and their families.
WWE celebrities, including AJ Styles, Dragon Lee, Otis and Maxxine Dupri, came to the Clinical Center to announce a new partnership between the WWE and the NIH. The partnership will include future events, visits and opportunities to connect WWE Superstars with children facing serious or rare medical conditions.
“This was a great experience, and I don’t really get a chance to meet famous people like AJ Styles and Dragon Lee,” said Majesty Providence, Clinical Center patient. “I also got a chance to play basketball against AJ Styles and Dragon Lee and I won. I had a great time.”
During the visit, NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya met with the WWE delegation and highlighted the Clinical Center’s ongoing efforts to expand its capabilities in pediatric intensive care, particularly for children with rare diseases and complex disorders.
Dr. Bhattacharya also stated that the mission at the NIH Clinical Center is to provide world-class, research-driven care to study participants who often have limited treatment options. Additionally, Bhattacharya mentioned that enhancing our pediatric intensive care capabilities will allow NIH to offer even more comprehensive support to families while advancing groundbreaking scientific discovery.
