Healthy Volunteers Needed!
Trichuriasis is a parasitic infection caused by ingesting food or water that contains eggs of whipworm known as Trichuris trichiura. An NIH research study led by a team at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is seeking healthy volunteers to study the immune response to infection as there is evidence it could have therapeutic applications.
Who Can Participate?
- Adults 18 to 45 years old and in good health
- Live in the Washington, DC, area
- English speaker
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding
Study Plan
- 16 outpatient visits over up to 8 months
- Physical exams, along with blood tests and stool samples
- Compensation will be provided
The NIH Clinical Center, America's research hospital, is located in Bethesda, MD, and is accessible by the Metro Red Line (Medical Center stop).
