Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring Sessions. Four- or Eight-Week Sessions
Rotation Coordinator:
Kristina Rother, MD
Rotation Description
Patients with a wide variety of pediatric and adolescent endocrine and metabolic disorders are under study in the wards and clinics of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). These include problems in growth and development, abnormalities in sexual differentiation, delayed and precocious puberty, autoimmune endocrine disorders, multiple endocrine neoplasias, hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal disorders, obesity, Turner syndrome, and others. More information is available at https://www.nichd.nih.gov/about/org/dir/osd/tp/peitp and for the research being conducted by NICHD faculty at http://annualreport.nichd.nih.gov/.
Students will become part of a team consisting of clinical associates and senior investigators and will spend most of their time in the clinical wards and clinics of the NICHD. It is expected that students will work up and present several patients each week, participate in daily rounds and be involved in ongoing clinical investigation activities. They will also take part in all of the other activities of the program, including clinical rounds, endocrine grand rounds, journal club, research seminars, and various lectures.
