Famine from Feast: Linking Vitamin C, Red Blood Cell Fragility, and Diabetes

Do you or someone you know have diabetes Type 2?

Can Vitamin C help improve circulation in patients with diabetes?

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) researchers are enrolling adult volunteers in a study investigating the role of Vitamin C in red blood cells of patients with type 2 diabetes. Findings may help improve future treatment and care of people with diabetes.

You can participate if you are:

  • 18-65 years of age and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
  • In general good health with no other significant illness
  • Not pregnant or breastfeeding

Study involves:

  • Two 1-week long inpatient visits
  • Collection of blood and urine samples
  • Following a specific study provided meals plan
  • Taking Vitamin C & E supplements

There is no cost for participation and compensation is provided.
