Healthy Overweight Children Needed

A Study Exploring Activity, Metabolism, and Attention in 7-11 Year Olds

Researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center want to learn how short periods of activity improve children's metabolism and attention. Children will be performing activities such as sitting and walking. This study may help researchers find new ways to prevent obesity in children.

Study Facts:

  • One outpatient screening visit of about five hours
  • Two outpatient visits of about seven hours each
  • Parents / guardians will be informed about possible procedures and must give consent for participation
  • There is no cost to participate
  • Compensation is provided

Is your child:

  • 7-11 years old
  • In general good health
  • Overweight

Location: The NIH Clinical Center, America's research hospital, is conveniently located on the Metro Red Line (Medical Center stop) in Bethesda, Maryland. Parking is provided at no cost.
