LDRR staff performs basic and clinical research in the imaging sciences within the areas of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magnetic resonance spectroscopy, molecular imaging, and image processing as well as other areas of imaging sciences. The LDRR offices and laboratory are networked to all imaging modalities in the Clinical Center, thereby allowing Imaging Sciences Training Program (ISTP) Fellows to process their data on workstations using the LDRR-developed Multimodality Radiological Image Processing System (MRIPS).
The Laboratory of Diagnostic Radiology Research (LDRR) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) was established by a Congressional Mandate in 1989. It represents 10 years of effort by the Conjoint Committee on Diagnostic Radiology to develop a laboratory for imaging research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The major purpose of the LDRR is to serve as a focal point and training program promoting basic research in medical imaging and related fields. The main objective of the LDRR was to provide a 1-4-year fellowship training program for United States (US) or permanent resident MDs and PhDs in Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, or a related field.
The Laboratory of Diagnostic Radiology Research (LDRR) facility currently provides the space, materials and equipment resources for the ISTP Fellows.
