Astronauts visit Clinical Center

NASA astronauts visit patient
Astronauts (left to right) Kayla Barron, Mark T. Vande Hei, Raja Chari and Dr. Thomas H. Marshburn met with Clinical Center patient Alex (center).

Four astronauts from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration visited the NIH Clinical Center in early December. The astronauts met with hospital leadership and discussed several clinical capabilities that could have applications in remote locations, as well as demonstrations of telehealth tools and "telemedical" IT.

After the formal meetings, the astronauts had a chance for an "out of this world" visit with Clinical Center pediatric patients in the hospital and at the Children's Inn.
