A Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Halloween Charity Fair and Mask Contest was held virtually Oct. 29. The annual CFC provides federal employees an easy way to donate to thousands of organizations. As opposed to the typical medical surgical masks most have come to see in 2020, this fun competition involved 12 employees showing off creative masks – to raise awareness about the campaign and NIH's donation goal of $1 million. In addition, three charities shared information about their mission.

Mask contest winners were selected by a panel of 3 NIH leaders – including the CC's Director of Hospitality U.S. Public Health Service Ltn Jamillah Bynum. Winners include Lisa King (NCI) in first place, Joyce Coffman (CSR) in second place, and Danielle Fenwick (NCI) in third place. While Clinical Center staff didn't win, there were three very creative submissions. The Clinical Center's donation goal (NIH Staff Only) is 60 thousand dollars.

"This year has been a challenge for many who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic," said Debra Gale, CFC program manager. "Even in challenging times, we can still be part of a solution by donating to one or more of the 6,000 charities participating in this year's CFC. Charities need our support more than ever. No matter how small or large, every donation makes a huge difference for those in need."

The NIH National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) is hosting the NIH 2020 CFC. Staff, learn how to contribute.
