NIH Clinical Center Critical Care Medicine Department, patient, participate in symposium on pulmonary hypertension

Clinical Center Patient Nicole Reid speaks at podium
In May, the NIH Clinical Center Critical Care Medicine Department and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association hosted a daylong symposium on the challenges in pulmonary arterial hypertension. Nicole Reid discussed the impact being diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension and her experience as a clinical study patient at the NIH Clinical Center.

"I was shocked [when they told me I had pulmonary arterial hypertension]. Eventually, I found my way to NIH and I've had a really wonderful experience being treated here and evaluated," Reid said. "My nurses gave me a lot of hope that this is a chronic, manageable disease instead of a death sentence and that there's a lot of research being done.
