Benefits of Being a Volunteer

Volunteer at the Information deskAlthough the highest rewards for volunteer service are both intangible and immeasurable, the Clinical Center recognizes your time and commitment by extending the following benefits:

Parking

Free parking    
Free self-parking is provided in the Patient Parking garage (P1), which is on the west end of the building off Convent Drive. Parking attendants will be available to assist you. You’ll enter the new hospital through a new lobby on the lower (P1) level.  Parking passes are issued by the Volunteer Office. The South Elevators serve the parking garages.

Free Shuttle Service
Shuttle busses leave from the main entrance of the Hatfield Center and go around the NIH campus as well as the Metro.

Trans Share Program
This program provides eligible visitors, employees, and volunteers a discounted rate for Metro rail transportation.

NIH Lectures
NIH provides a weekly series of free weekly lectures for volunteers and employees. 

Social Events
Special event celebrations typically occur during Volunteer Appreciation Week and holidays.

Award Banquet
Awards presented for hours worked and recognition for volunteer commitment.
