The Pharmaceutical Development Section (PDS) of the Clinical Center Pharmacy Department provides investigators a specialized service to formulate raw materials into dosage forms (tablets, capsules, sterile injections, oral liquids and topical products) suitable for use in clinical studies including identical appearing placebos for blinded randomized studies. Work is done in the department’s ‘good-manufacturing practices’ (GMP) facility.  In addition, the PDS analytical and formulation staff assist investigators with FDA’s IND process.
