CPD Changes

Clinincal Pathology Changes in MIS at LIS Live

Order screens

Microbiology routine cultures will be more specific.  For example, instead of Routine Culture, doctors will order Wound Culture, Biopsy Culture or Eye Culture.  Any "routine " culture that is ordered, either from Comlab or from a protocol screen that has not yet been changed, will be resulted in MIS as canceled and that the correct test has been ordered.

Sulfa drugs will be sent to Mayo Laboratory instead of AML.

Results

Some tests that previously had a lot of free text will now have a more structured format.  An example is the PTH Serial.  Each specimen will have, in addition to its result, fields that indicate the vessel name, location and type and the sample time.

For problem specimens that have the tests cancelled, the MIS will indicate that the order was cancelled and the reason for the cancellation.

When either a result or a free text that accompanies a result is changed, a correction message will automatically be sent with the result.

Differentials will have some format changes.  Morphology will not be graded but will note the presence of cells unless significant.

Microbiology tests which say "Received in lab" in the current MIS, will indicate pending.

Microbiology sensitivities will have minor format changes to the interpretative legend.

Add on tests will not have the same accession number in the MIS as the original tests, but they will have the same collection date and time as the original test.

The following tests will be available to order in MIS at live:  Troponin I, Gastrocult (Gastric Fluid), Clozapine, FK-506, Anti-Meningococcal IgG, Anti- H. influenzae antibody.

The following serials will be available to order in MIS at live:  Magnesium, Ammonia, Specimen Processing, Gastrin 1-12, Gastrin 1-6, PTH 1-40
