Do mild temperature changes affect metabolism and hormone levels?

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland is studying how mild temperature changes affect metabolism and hormone levels. All study-related tests, treatment, and medications are provided at no cost to you.

  • Volunteers will sleep at the NIH Clinical Center for four months while continuing regular daily activities
  • Lodging, meals and study-related tests are provided at no cost
  • Periodic weekend leave will be permitted
  • Temperatures in the private room will range from cool to warm (66°F – 80°F)
  • Blood work will be collected and other tests will be conducted
  • Compensation will be provided

Who is eligible:

  • healthy, lean males, 18-40 years old
