Do you have sickle cell disease?
Doctors at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland are conducting a research study on sickle cell disease. This study will non-invasively measure changes in blood flow that may occur during pain crisis. Participation involves one or two blood flow measurement sessions at the Clinical Center, lasting two to three hours each. You may participate even if you don’t experience pain crisis. There is no cost for study-related tests. Compensation may be provided.
You may qualify if you:
- 18 years of age or older
- diagnosed with sickle cell disease
- a non-smoker
You may not be eligible if you:
- are pregnant
- have uncontrolled high blood pressure or diabetes
Healthy Adults Needed
Doctors at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland need healthy volunteers for a research study. The study compares the blood flow of people with sickle cell disease to people without the condition.
Participation includes one or two appointments, lasting two to three hours, at the Clinical Center. There is no cost for study-related tests. Compensation may be provided.
You may qualify if you:
- 18 years of age or older
- a non-smoker
- are not pregnant
- do not have uncontrolled high blood pressure or diabetes
