Doctors at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) invite you to participate in a study looking at adrenal gland function and cortisol secretion in men who are runners compared to those who don’t exercise more than one hour a week.
- The study includes three morning visits (for screening, body composition, blood samples, and a dexamethasonetest) and four evening visits to look at how much cortisol increases after two medications.
- If you are a man aged 18-30 and either run at least 28 miles a week or exercise less than an hour a week, please consider participating.
- Participants must have regular sleep times, take no more than two drinks daily, and not use motrin-like medications daily.
- All study-related medications and treatments are provided at no cost. Participants will be compensated.
The NIH is located in Bethesda, MD, just 9 miles north of Washington, DC, and conveniently located on the Metro Red line (Medical Center Stop). Parking is provided at no cost.
