Healthy Volunteers Needed to Investigate Connection Between Adrenal Glands and PCOS
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland, is conducting a study for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). The purpose of the study is to investigate a possible connection between adrenal glands which secrete steroid hormones, and PCOS.
Participation requires an inpatient stay of up to nine days at the NIH Clinical Center and includes a physical exam and tests. Participants must be willing to discontinue the use of oral contraceptives for at least one month prior to participation.
You are eligible to participate if you:
- Are between 18 to 29 years of age
(Parents must give permission for minors to participate.)
You are not eligible to participate if you:
- Have known adrenal tumors
- Have diabetes or history of pregnancy
The NIH Clinical Center, America’s research hospital, is located on the Metro red line in Bethesda, Maryland.
