Recorded May 24, 2011

"Challenging Depression: New Insights into Research and Treatment."

CROWN: From the Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, this is the 2011 "Medicine for the Public" presentation.

For more than 30 years the Clinical Center's "Medicine for the Public" series has been a valuable link between the Clinical Center and the community. This year, we extend even further into the community by holding the lecture at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.  Our speakers include Dr. Carlos Zarate, Chief Experimental Therapeutics and Pathophysiology Branch in the Division of Intramural Research Programs at the National Institute of Mental Health, and Dr. Jennifer Lanier Payne, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins Medicine. They are joined by Dr. David George, Associate Clinical Director and Section Chief for Clinical Assessment and Treatment Evaluation at the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Their presentation topic is, “Challenging Depression: New Insights into Research and Treatment.”

This presentation was recorded May 24, 2011. For a closed caption videocast of this lecture, log on to http://videocast.nih.gov and search the "Past Events" link.
