MEDICINE FOR THE PUBLIC
Time: 1:35:28
Recorded May 17, 2011

"Confronting Obesity: Updates in Prevention and Treatment Research."

CROWN: From the Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, this is the 2011 "Medicine for the Public" presentation.

For more than 30 years the Clinical Center's "Medicine for the Public" series has been a valuable link between the Clinical Center and the community. This year, we extend even further into the community by holding the lecture at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.  Our speakers include Dr. Kong Chen, director of the Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Obesity Branch of the Intramural Research Program at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and Dr. Lawrence Appel, a Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical at Johns Hopkins Medicine. They are joined by Dr. Tania Heller, a Suburban Hospital Physician and Medical Director of the Washington Center for Eating Disorders and Adolescent Obesity. Their topic is “Confronting Obesity: Updates in Prevention and Treatment Research.”

This presentation was recorded May 17, 2011. For a closed caption videocast of this lecture, log on to http://videocast.nih.gov and search the "Past Events" link.
