CROWN: From the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, this is CLINICAL CENTER RADIO.
From sugar drop cottages to castles to moving carrousels, the Clinical Center atrium was filled more than 40 handmade gingerbread houses during the 8th annual decorating contest, which expanded NIH-wide this year. Clinical Center Chief Operating Officer Maureen Gormley says:
GORMLEY: It’s a way to really bring the community together in the lobby of the hospital, in a way that feels really warm.
(“Wow, what’s that made of? Candy!”)
CROWN: The gingerbread house decorating contest began in 2004, as an idea from a nurse who wanted to foster teamwork.
GORMLEY: The houses are amazing and what I think they signify is the creativity and teamwork of our staff.
CROWN: From America's Clinical Research Hospital, this has been CLINICAL CENTER RADIO. In Bethesda, Maryland, I'm Ellen Crown, at the National Institutes of Health, an agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
