SCHMALFELDT: From the Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, this is your Recreation Therapy Update for the third week of February 2010.
First of all, let me remind you that you can always use the Clinical Center Hospital Theater Video Guide to check out the movie channels for some top-notch Hollywood entertainment!
Monday, February 15th is President's Day and a Federal Holiday. However, you can visit the Patient Library from 11 until 4 and the Patient Fitness Center from 2 until 3.
On Tuesday, February 16th, and every other non-holiday weekday, the Main Playroom is open on the First Floor, room number 1-5673, from 10 until noon, then from 1 until 3. Pediatric patients and children of adult patients are invited to enjoy the games, toys, electronics and family-centered care activities! The Patient Library on the 7th Floor, room number 7-1580, is open from 11 am until 9 pm Monday through Thursday, 11 until 4 Friday and Saturday, with everything from today's newspaper to the latest in fiction, music, DVDs and much, much more! The Recreation and Leisure Connection is open for business in the First Floor Recreation Therapy Clinic Room, room number 1-2340 from 1 until 3. You can decorate a picture frame in the Creative Workshop, in the 1st Floor Recreation Therapy Clinic Room from 10 until noon. Enjoy the therapy dog visit in the 1st Floor Recreation Therapy Clinic Room from 10:45 until 11:45. Make plans to enjoy the Vibroacoustic Relaxation Chairs in the first floor Relaxation Room, room number 1-1341 starting at 2 p.m., and experience the relaxing benefits of these uniquely-designed vibro-acoustic recliners. Call 301-402-8747 to reserve a time and a seat. The Patient Fitness Center is open on the 7th Floor Recreation Therapy Exercise Room, room number 7-3551 from 1 until 3 and 4:30 to 6:30. Remember, all patients must be 16 or older and have a signed medical clearance form.
On Wednesday, February 17th, you'll have THREE opportunities to work on your fitness in the 7th Floor Recreation Therapy Exercise Room -- from 10 until 11, then again from 1 until 3 and 4 until 6. The vibroacoustic chairs are available in the first floor Relaxation Room starting at 2 p.m. Call 301-402-8747 to reserve a time and a chair. Enjoy "Intergenerational Game Day" as part of the Wellness program in the First Floor Recreation Therapy room from 2 until 4. Then come back for Bingo at 6:30.
On Thursday, February 18th, you can make a decorative plate in the Creative Workshop in the First Floor Recreation Therapy Clinic Room from 10 until noon. Once again, you'll have THREE opportunities to work on your fitness in the 7th Floor Recreation Therapy Exercise Room -- from 10 until 11, then again from 1 until 3 and 4 until 6. The Recreation and Leisure Connection is open in the First Floor Recreation Therapy Clinic Room from 1 until 3. Those luxurious vibroacoustic chairs are available today, starting at 4 p.m. And there will be a trip to the movies at 6:30 p.m. Call 301-496-2233 by 3 p.m. Thursday to reserve a spot, then meet in the first floor north lobby at 6:25 with an NIH ID and a doctor's pass.
On Friday, February 19th, the Patient Fitness Center is open on the 7th Floor Recreation Therapy Exercise Room from 10 until 11. And the vibroacoustic chairs are available starting at 11. Friday and Saturday, the Patient Library is open from 11 until 4.
And you can wrap up the week on Saturday, February 20th, by working out in the Patient Fitness Center on the 7th Floor Recreation Therapy Exercise Room from 2 until 3 p.m.
