The NIH Clinical Center
Nursing Department is Piloting the

Veterans Incentive Program (VIP)

PROGRAM INFORMATION

The VIP is a pilot program offering prior and transitioning Corpsmen and Medics the opportunity to use the training they received while serving in the military and apply it to the unique setting of the NIH Clinical Center, a research hospital located in Bethesda, MD.

Individuals selected for the program will be hired as a GS 5, 6, or 7 Patient Care Technician depending on previous experience and education. Each position is a not to exceed (NTE) 13 month appointment with full federal benefits.

Each appointment may be extended up to 4 years allowing individuals to complete their education and become licensed registered nurses.

Participants will be eligible to apply for financial support to continue their education in pursuit of a nursing degree.

Individuals who successfully complete the program, receive their nursing degree and become state licensed will be encouraged to apply for a permanent nursing position at the NIH Clinical Center.

The period for submitting applications for this pilot has closed. We are now in the process of making selections and look forward to welcoming the first group of VIP participants this spring.

Please continue to check the web site regularly for updates regarding future VIP opportunities.
