Dr. Ahalya Premkumar is chief of the General Radiology Section of the Diagnostic Radiology Department at the Warren Grant Magnuson
Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Premkumar received
her medical degree from Bombay University and residency training in diagnostic
radiology from St. Luke's Roosevelt Medical Center in New York, New York
(chief resident 1981-1982). Dr. Premkumar did her fellowship in abdominal
imaging at the Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in 1982-1983. Dr. Premkumar
joined the Diagnostic Radiology Department in 1990.
Dr. Premkumar has authored or co-authored over 25 manuscripts
and book chapters and is a member of the American College of Radiology,
Radiological Society of North America, American Institute of Ultrasound
in Medicine, and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound.
Dr. Premkumar's research interests include studying the
effects of tamoxifen and raloxifene on the uterus and ovaries by transvaginal
sonography and sonohysterography; imaging of tendons by ultrasound and MRI;
and direct digital radiography.
