Stephen Bacharach, Ph.D.
Dr. Stephen Bacharach is a member of the Imaging Sciences Program, at the Clinical Center of the National Institutes of Health. He works primarily in Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography. He received his undergraduate and graduate education at Cornell University, and was awarded his Ph.D. in Applied Physics in 1969. He has worked in medical imaging since 1975. His principle interests are in developing computer based methods to extract quantitative information from medical images (e.g. blood flow, metabolism, etc), principally in cardiology and oncology.
He is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, is a past member of the board of directors, Computers in Cardiology, and is past president of the Computer Council of the Society of Nuclear Medicine. He is the author or co-author over 180 journal articles and book chapters. A few recent ones are listed below
