Nilo Avila, MD

Dr. Nilo Avila is chief of Computed Tomography, Diagnostic Radiology Department, at the Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center. Dr. Avila received his medical degree in 1983 from the State University of New York at Syracuse, and did his residency training at Bridgeport Hospital from 1983 to 1987. He completed a fellowship in ultrasound and MRI at the University of Michigan Hospitals in 1988. Dr. Avila joined the Diagnostic Radiology Department in 1988.

Dr. Avila has authored or co-authored over 30 manuscripts and book chapters and is a member of the ACR and RSNA. He is a reviewer for the American Journal of Roentgenology and for the Journal of Computed Tomography.

His current research interests include dynamic CT imaging, imaging of coronary calcifications, high resolution CT of the chest, and imaging of congenital conditions such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia and lymphangioleiomyomatosis.
