The Department of Transfusion Medicine is organized into four operational sections with centralized administrative support provided by the Office of the Chief.

Together, they provide the services of a blood collection center, a hospital transfusion service, a clinical diagnostic laboratory and a stem cell processing facility. Many of the products and services provided by the department are tailored to meet the needs of individual clinical research studies. The unique need for protocol driven services fosters an atmosphere of collaborative innovation and creativity between the DTM and the NIH Institutes.
