The Need to find a cure

Researchers here at the National Institutes of Health are trying to find better ways to treat and possibly cure sickle cell disease. This disease devastates the lives of its victims and their families. Finding a cure could bring an improved quality of life to thousands of African Americans and their families. The scientific community believes cord blood may have an important role to play in the cure for sickle cell disease.
