NIH Sickle Cell Cord Blood Research Program

How to enroll in the program

A potential donor or her health care provider needs to contact the NIH Sickle Cell Cord Blood Research Program Nurse Coordinator at (301) 594-8381 or send an email to ejoyal@mail.cc.nih.gov asking for information. This must be done before active labor begins, preferably around the 8th month of pregnancy (32 - 36 weeks). The NIH Nurse Coordinator will explain the program in detail and, if the mother agrees to participate, the coordinator will make all the necessary arrangements to collect the infant's umbilical cord blood.
