Portrait of Songtao Liu, MD

Biosketch

Dr. Liu is a staff scientist in Radiology and Imaging Sciences at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center and Molecular Biomedical Imaging Laboratory of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering.  His research focuses on: 1) myocardial tissue characterization in nonischemic and ischemic cardiomyopathy using non-invasive imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging, multidetector CT and PET; 2) evaluating imaging biomarkers for cardiovascular risk in large scale multicenter epidemiological studies.  Dr. Liu earned his medical degree and completed radiology residence training at Shandong Medical University in China.  Before joining NIH, he was a research scientist at New York University School of Medicine.
