Biosketch

After serving in the United States Navy, Mr. Adams joined the National Institutes of Health in 1978 and began his NIH career in the Office of the Director of NIH, Office of Financial Management. The experiences he gained in the Office of Financial Management gave him the foundation to accept greater responsibilities managing Institute resources in a laboratory and clinic environment. In 1980 Mr. Adams accepted a position in the Office of the Director, Division of Cancer Treatment, National Cancer Institute and was responsible for managing the contract budget for the Division. From 1985 to 1988 Mr. Adams served as an Administrative Officer in the Clinical Oncology Program, National Cancer Institute where he worked closely with the Clinical Director and provided administrative leadership to several laboratories and clinics establishing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive laboratory and clinical research activities. In 1988, Mr. Adams accepted the position of Principal Administrative Officer for the Division of Intramural Research, National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. For the next 12 years, Mr. Adams worked closely with the Scientific Director, NIDCR, as a key advisor while providing leadership to the administrative and purchasing components of the Division. His responsibilities at NIDCR included managing three administrative offices, two procurement offices, the dock and material handling operations and staff located in five different buildings. In 1989 Mr. Adams was certified for Level One Delegation of Acquisition Authority. In the year 2000, Mr. Adams joined the Clinical Center as a Senior Administrative Officer in the Office of Administrative Management, Office of the Director, and represents the Clinical Center on the NIH Intramural Administrative Management Council. Mr. Adams currently serves as the Senior Administrative Officer for the Radiology and Imaging Sciences Department, the Position Emission Tomography Department and the Office of Clinical Research Training and Medical Education at the NIH Clinical Center.
