Biosketch
Dr. Panyutin earned her Doctoral degree in Epidemiology from Moscow State Medical Academy in 1980 and worked as an Epidemiologist at a Disease Control Station in Moscow, Russia. After coming to USA she worked as a research scientist at Braton Biotech Inc., Rockville, Maryland from 1992 to 1996. Her work included Flow cytometry and immuno-histochemical analysis of HIV patients’ samples, quality control and quality assurance procedures for clinical laboratory.
Since 1996 she has been at the NIH, Nuclear Medicine Department. Her main responsibilities include management of operations of the Nuclear Medicine research laboratory including quality control and quality assurance procedures for cell culture, biochemistry, flow cytometry, and fluorescent microscopy.
Dr. Panyutin’s research interests include sequence-specific gene inactivation by triplex-directed radioactive isotopes, intracellular transport of radiopharmaceuticals, analysis of the mechanism of gamma–radiation induced micronuclei formation, development of a new cellular model using human embryonic stem cells lines for study the effects of radiation on their pluripotency and differentiation.
