Biosketch

A graduate of Cornell University Medical College, Dr. Frederick P. Ognibene fulfilled internship and residency requirements in internal medicine at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center. In 1982, Dr. Ognibene came to the National Institutes of Health as a clinical fellow; later becoming a senior investigator in the Clinical Center's Critical Care Medicine Department.

Dr. Ognibene served as director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Training Program and co-chaired the NIH Graduate Medical Education Committee for clinical fellows in accredited training programs until May 2003. He was then appointed director of the newly established Office of Clinical Research Training and Medical Education. Dr. Ognibene became a deputy director of the Clinical Center in March 2009 and is responsible for all of the clinical and clinical research educational programs in the NIH Clinical Center. He is also actively involved in a number of new initiatives focused on opening the doors of the NIH Clinical Center to external collaborators. He also leads the NIH Clinical Research Training Program for medical and dental students, which is entering its 15th year.
